STEMWorks is a club at James Martin High School with five competition teams: Solar Car, Roboboat, Robotics, M.A.R.S., and Drones. Students design, build, program, and test hardware that goes to national and international competition. We meet in Room 140A. One $50 club fee joins the club and gives you access to all five teams.

Solar Car

Competes in the Solar Car Challenge. The team builds a fully custom motorized vehicle and tunes it for maximum solar efficiency through mechanical and electrical engineering.

Designs, manufactures, and programs an autonomous boat for an international competition held by RoboNation, entered against top university programs.

M.A.R.S.

The Martin Aeronautics Rocketry Society runs a design team and a build team whose work is tested each year at the American Rocketry Challenge.

Drones

Builds and operates RVR and AVR drones that fly in the competition hosted by Bell, covering airframe assembly, autonomous flight code, and piloting.

Every team fabricates, wires, and programs its own machine, and it has to hold up in front of judges.

We teach you first

New members learn the tools, the safety rules, and how the shop runs before they start on a build.
